Publisher Content Management Intern

The ideal candidate for this internship will be detail-oriented with very strong research, communication, analytical, and organizational skills. He/she must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities. Main focus of the position will be to establish a means to acquire content from our publishing partners, research and resolve customer content-related service issues, and support the PCM specialists with publisher onboarding and acquisition activities through LEAN practices. Great opportunity for someone who is interested in the publishing industry or looking to develop strong customer service skills.

Primary Responsibilities:

Key activities for this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Assisting with publisher onboarding and claiming missing content for journals, magazines, and newspapers via phone and email communication
  • Tracking subscription expenses and renewals at the publisher and individual title level
  • Working closely with supply chain and journal production to ensure content is successfully posted to product
  • Assist team with auditing and researching service issues as well as special projects
  • Call publishers to discuss alternative delivery and data format options that will help improve speed to product
Skills

Requirements:
  • Bachelors candidate ideally in the field of business administration, publishing, English, and/or library sciences
  • At least 1 year experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally (phone or email) and the ability to know when to employ written or verbal communication to ensure the best results
  • Exceptional organizational and research skills
  • Strong understanding or at least interest in the publishing industry is strongly preferred
  • Technical aptitude as the position requires the ability to learn proprietary systems
  • A team player. The ideal candidate must be comfortable collaborating with various teams
  • A strong bias for action
About the Content Management Department

EBSCO's Content Management department oversees all aspects of the content value stream for licensed and proprietary databases. Working closely with information providers, we secure digital and print content, convert that content to forms that support production, add indexing, table of contents and abstracting where needed and build the actual databases. Specialized teams for each of these functions work together in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
